For a conservative town, Guadalajara has a thriving nightlife. There are small clubs, high-energy discos, and many of the local restaurants and bars offer nightly entertainment. Another option is to soak up the local ambience at Plaza de los Mariachis where roving bands of Mexico's traditional musicians serenade. The Degollado Theater, Cabañas Cultural Institute and several other venues around town present various theater, dance and musical performance throughout the year.
